I found a car I really want. I feel like I need it. Seriously, it's killing me. I'm not sleeping right because I keep thinking about it.
It's 4 hours away, and my dad is feeling sick. He can't come with me to buy the car (I'm still 17 so I would need him), but he says if I can find a way to buy it without needing him to go, I can get it. Is that possible? Wire transfer or something?
Help me oppo-wan kenobi.

In NY, I was able to register a car in my father's name at the DMV using some separate form that he had to fill out. If it's a private sale, no problem, just bring cash or a bank check or money order. Dealer will prob require more though, if it's going to be in your father's name. When I took delivery of my new car a few months ago, my father had to be there to sign the paperwork since it was technically in his name (NYC, so even though I'm 23, it's exponentially cheaper to have a new, fast car (FoST) registered under my father's name. Better insurance rate, better finance rate, better everything except building your own credit).

Oh hell no. You have no idea of the quality of the work on a swap. You need to drive that before you buy it.

Well I am, I'm going there to see it. I'm just saying that once I do that if I want to buy it and my dad can't come (which it looks like he's going to have to now), I'd need a way for him to pay for it without him being there.

So... you want to buy at ten year old car that has an engine swap AND plasti-dipped white stock wheels? Look... I love IS300's. I owned one for seven years. But I just have a bad feeling about this. (especially since you've never driven it) If it was an swapped car that was well documented and respected on myis forum... maybe. But I know this isn't.

Yes? I'm going to go drive it and see if it's any good. If it's not any good there's no way I'm buying it. I'm bringing my mechanic friend to make sure it's mechanically sound, too.
